What does Collectors Guild insure?
We specialize in the things people collect — trading cards (graded and raw, sealed and singles), jewelry, watches, coins and currency, comics, and memorabilia. If it's a collection you'd hate to lose, there's a good chance we can cover it.
How is my collection valued?
It depends on the category. Cards, coins, and other collectibles are typically insured to current fair-market value. Jewelry and watches are insured up to 125% of appraised value, so your coverage keeps pace as gold, gems, and references appreciate.
Do I need an appraisal?
Usually not for collectibles — most cards, coins, and comics need no formal appraisal; a simple inventory with photos and receipts is enough. Jewelry and watches do insure best from a recent appraisal, and if you don't have one, a reasonably priced virtual appraisal can be arranged.
What does coverage protect against?
Broad, all-risk protection: theft and burglary, accidental damage and breakage, loss in transit, and fire and natural disasters. Jewelry and watch policies also cover mysterious disappearance. Exact covered perils are set by your policy.
Am I covered at shows and in the mail?
Yes. Coverage follows your collection to shows and conventions, on loan, in the mail, and to and from grading — the places items are most at risk.
Is my collection covered worldwide?
Jewelry and watches are protected worldwide. Collectibles are covered at your scheduled location with worldwide protection for shipping and transit. We'll confirm the details for your specific policy.
Do I have to schedule every item?
No. Most collections are covered on a blanket basis. Individual items or sets worth $25,000 or more are scheduled separately so they're fully and specifically protected.
Will this affect my homeowners policy?
No. A standalone specialty policy means filing a claim on your collection won't touch your homeowners coverage or rates — and it typically provides broader protection than a homeowners rider or floater.
What's the deductible?
Many of our policies offer a $0 deductible, and collector policies start with a $0 deductible option — so there's nothing out of pocket when you file a claim.
How do I get a quote, and how long does it take?
Start with our
quote request or a quick
message. A specialist matches you to the right carrier and follows up personally — most collectors are quoted quickly, depending mainly on how fast we can put a value to the collection.
